Wales Cycle Breaks

KNIGHTON & PRESTEIGNE - MID WALES

Here’s a chance to base yourself on the midpoint of Offa’s Dyke, and soak up the ancient history of the Welsh borders. Knighton is on the Radnor Ring, an 84 mile route along quiet lanes, which is part of the National Cycle Network. The town has a pretty clock tower and you don’t have to go far to get lovely views along the Teme Valley.

Presteigne is an unspoilt border town whose history was built on the cloth trade. It became the county town of old Radnorshire and has one of the county’s finest churches – St Andrews, which looks like a small cathedral. Cycle routes join the two towns along the Rivers Teme and Lugg, and also visit castles of the Marches, standing stones, and a spectacular iron-age hillfort, and are never far from the eighth century ramparts of Offa’s Dyke.
