LLŶN
PENINSULA - SNOWDONIA MOUNTAINS & COAST
|
There
are a series of extraordinary-looking hills all over the
Llŷn Peninsula and the rides along the little lanes through
lush pastures give ever-changing views of them. Llŷn 's
coastline is varied, with long quiet pebbly stretches in the north
east, the larger seaside towns of Pwllheli and Criccieth to the
south, and huge expanses of sand around Morfa Nefyn and Porth Oer,
known as whistling sands because your feet squeak as they walk on it.
The remote west of Llŷn is reached along quiet roads and is
where you'll find tiny villages perched over coves. Make your way
right to the end to Aberdaron and you can get a boat in season to
Bardsey Island,
Ynys Enlli
. Known as the island of 20,000
saints because thousands of them are supposed to be buried there.
