The Ystwyth Trail - Current Status

Pont yr Odyn Bridge, Trefechan, at the Aberystwyth terminus of the Ystwyth Trail, was reopened for public use on the 19 November 2008.

The Aberystwyth terminus is at the Park Avenue car park adjacent to the Aberystwyth Town FC football field. This section is suitable for walkers and cyclists. There is no bridleway access to this section.

This section is open for use. Southbound from Llanfarian the route initially follows a paved country lane. This section is suitable for walkers, horse riders and cyclists.

This section is suitable for walkers and cyclists. There is now permissive bridleway access to this section.

This section is suitable for walkers and cyclists. There is now permissive bridleway access to the off-road section. From Trawscoed the route follows the B4575. Forestry Commission Wales provides car parking facilities and waymarked paths at Trawscoed.

This section is suitable for walkers and cyclists. Now there is also bridleway access to this section. This section of route involves a steep downhill from the Ystwyth Trail to a junction with the B4340.

The route crosses the Cors Caron National Nature Reserve. The Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) provides car parking and accessible public conveniences at map point 9. CCW affords permissive bridleway access to this section as well as access for walkers and cyclists.

The route follows the B4343 into Tregaron.
